Great Wolf Lodge Maryland opening date pushed up to June 14 as construction nears end

May 10—The opening date for Great Wolf Lodge Maryland in Perryville has been pushed up, once again, to June 14.

The indoor water park's general manager, Nadine Miracle, announced Wednesday that reservations can now be made for June 14 onward, but June 29, the previously scheduled opening date, will still serve as the park's grand opening.

Miracle said that not all of the lodge's 700 rooms will be available to book between June 14 and June 29 for what she calls the "special preview test phase," so the park can ensure the guest experience is right. Those who book during that period can obtain a discount on Great Wolf Lodge's website.

"We're really excited to open early and have the opportunity to welcome guests to the park," Miracle said.

Great Wolf Lodge Maryland will include a 128,000-square-foot waterpark with 22 slides, a 57,000-square-foot indoor adventure park, and a variety of dining options.

The waterpark will include a variety of body and tube slides, with the debut of two new slides, "High Paw Holler" and "Forest Flume." The indoor adventure park has offerings such as an arcade, ropes course and miniature golf. Booking a suite at Great Wolf Lodge includes access to the waterpark, but the dry park attractions come at an additional cost.

Jason Lasecki, Great Wolf Lodge's vice president of corporate communications, said the lodge is like a "cruise ship on land."

"Everything's here that you could possibly want," Lasecki said.

Construction on the new park is ahead of schedule, Miracle said. She noted that they'll be putting on final touches within about 2 1/2 weeks, so they can then obtain a temporary certificate of occupancy and on-site staff can train at the location.

Miracle said the new location will promote economic growth in the region by providing new jobs and attracting tourists. She estimated that it will bring in about 500,000 visitors each year.

"When guests come to Great Wolf Lodge, we love for them to have a great experience at our lodge," Miracle said. "We do also know they like to enjoy the locations where they visit as well."

Nearly 850 people have been hired at the new location, with about 100 openings left to fill in housekeeping, food and beverage, and attractions. To apply or learn more, interested applicants can go to greatwolf.com/jobs.
