Greece joins G7 declaration on ‘security guarantees’ for Ukraine — President’s Office

Greece has become the 14th country to join the G7 declaration on "security guarantees" for Ukraine, the head of the President’s Office Andriy Yermak announced on Twitter on Aug. 12.

He thanked the people and government of Greece, which became the 14th country to join the G7 Vilnius Declaration in support of Ukraine.

"The number of states that are ready to participate in ensuring Ukraine's ability to defend itself and prevent the recurrence of aggression is increasing," Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s chief-of-staff said.

Yermak added that Ukraine continues to work with partners and announced "more good news ahead."

During the NATO summit in Vilnius on July 12, the G7 leaders announced that they had agreed on a declaration on security guarantees for Ukraine.

The Ukrainian President's Office stated that the declaration is a general framework document, and the next step should be a system of bilateral agreements between Ukraine and individual guarantor states.

On Aug. 3, Ukraine began negotiations with the United States on a bilateral agreement on security guarantees. On Aug. 11, Kyiv began bilateral talks with the United Kingdom on security guarantees.
