Green Day Bassist Mike Dirnt Lists Bay Area Mediterranean Mansion for $6.8 Million

A grand, Mediterranean-style home owned by Green Day rocker Mike Dirnt recently hit the market for $6.8 million. The property in Piedmont, California, boasts five bedrooms and five-and-a-half bathrooms, spread out over 6,712 square feet. Built in 1927, the home sits behind a gate on three-quarters of an acre and has a stucco exterior and tiled roof.

Inside are plenty of distinctly Mediterranean design details, like beamed ceilings, hardwood floors, wrought-iron railings, and thick, hand-plastered walls. A columned mantel anchors the living room, which also boasts a large window to let in plenty of natural light. The kitchen has been fully remodeled and is more modern. The master suite features paneled walls, and has its own peaceful outdoor terrace. In March, Dirnt posted a picture on Instagram which appears to show the inside of the home.

Downstairs is another outdoor space, a tiled loggia framed by arches, which leads to the gorgeous pool and yard beyond. A trellis tops the flagstone pool deck; a fountain and firepit can be found elsewhere in the yard.

Dirnt, who has won four Grammy awards with Green Day (other members include Billie Joe Armstrong and Tré Cool), has sold three other California properties in recent years. In 2016, he parted with an Ojai bungalow, and the following year he sold both a unique, ship-inspired beachfront pad in Montecito and a Cape Cod–style dwelling in Newport Beach.
