Green District opening 2nd Indy shop

Indianapolis' second Green District custom salad shop is opening next week.

The restaurant at Nora Corners Shopping Center, 1250 E. 86th St., will open on July 26.

The 1,200-square-foot shop will have the chain's core menu of 11 signature chopped salads, along with wraps and grain bowls. Customers can choose from more than 50 fresh ingredients and 12 house-made dressings.

Soups and pasta salad are also on the menu.

Louisville, Kentucky-based Green District opened a store at 28 Monument Circle in 2021; and a franchised Green District operated at The Shops at Perry Crossing in Plainfield before that.

Two more locations are planned for early 2023.

The new stores are part of the company's rapid national expansion. Founded in 2017, it currently has eight locations in Kentucky, Indiana and Ohio. It plans to grow to 26 units by the end of 2022, including those in Colorado, Tennessee and Utah; and looks to have a total of 100 stores by 2026.

Green District is not the only salad operation with an eye on growth in the area.

California-based Sweetgreen will soon open stores in downtown Indianapolis and at 8702 Keystone Crossing.

At Green District's Nora Corners opening, the first 100 customers in line, will get a free salad and T-shirt and two customers can win free salads for a year.

The new store will operate from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday.
