Eighty people attended the gala to celebrate the recipients of the Eugene Gallaher Scholarship, created in memory of Eugene Gallaher, the former president of the Green McAdoo Cultural Organization. The event was held during the week of the 67th anniversary of the Clinton 12 desegregating Clinton High School, a news release said.

Green McAdoo Cultural Center director Adam Velk said in the release: “This was a wonderful event to celebrate the Clinton 12, Eugene Gallaher’s life, and the potential these young students have to make a positive impact in this world.”

Each of the three students wrote a 1,200-word essay about the Edward R. Murrow "See it Now" special titled “Clinton and the Law.” They were asked which words resonated with them the most, whose words felt the most dangerous, and what is needed to help America move toward a “more perfect union” as written in the Constitution.
