Green Oak Charter Township McDonald's suffers minor fire damage Thursday morning
GREEN OAK TWP. — The McDonald's on Whitmore Lake Road, just off U.S. 23, suffered minor fire damage shortly before 8 a.m. Thursday.
According to firefighters, a fire started in the deep fryer and was put out by firefighters using the kitchen fire extinguisher.
No one was injured in the fire, according to John Kelley, a fire inspector with the Green Oak Charter Township Fire Department.
"They did the right thing. They got out, they called 911," he said.
Consumer's Energy disabled the gas to the frying unit and DTE Energy also responded. Authorities were still waiting for the health department inspect the scene.
