Out & About: Greensburg Garden Center offers tips to 'punch up' holidays

Nov. 4—With the holidays fast approaching, folks who attended Greensburg Garden Center's Punch Up Your Holidays party are better prepared.

Held Thursday evening at Rizzo's Banquet Hall in Crabtree, the event offered a variety of ways to add a little pizzazz to the festivities.

For gentlemen wanting to look their best, there was a show of fashions from Lapels A Fine Men's Clothier in Greensburg, modeled by Eddie Rusnica, John Tropeano, Jon Amundson and Rob Hepler.

For the ladies, Jennifer Amundson, owner of owner of Spa 309 Salon & Boutique in Greensburg, offered tips on accessorizing their special looks.

For the festive holiday table, center member Marian DeBone demonstrated the art of fancy napkin-folding. She and center co-president Carla Rusnica then showed guests how to create a kissing ball ornament, one of the signature offerings at the center's annual holiday greens sale.

Raffle winners also went home with treat-laden baskets suitable for gift-giving.

More holiday ideas were incorporated into the trappings of the event.

Center members provided their own recipes for the four varieties of (nonalcoholic) punch served: red and white sangria, strawberry and citrus.

Tables were arrayed in white linens with centerpieces of candles and fresh greens created by DeBone. Each table held cookie plates of holiday specialties baked by members Joan Stairs, Terry Rodgers and Becky McGee.

Guests enjoyed a bountiful buffet of hot and cold appetizers and seasonal song stylings by Tony and Renata Marino, founders of Westmoreland Performing Arts.

Event planners included Rusnica and co-president Diane Dale, Nadine Mason and Judy Geary.
