Our high country neighbors may get most of the hype during the autumn months but Greenville and Upstate SC is also becoming well known as a fall destination.
The USA Today 10Best list ranked Greenville No. 6 on its Top 10 US spots for a perfect fall getaway. Greenville ranked above Bayfield and Cody, Wyoming; Taos, New Mexico and nearby Asheville, North Carolina on the list.
The 10 places were voted by readers as "the best places to visit in the U.S. during fall for their beautiful scenery, fantastic weather, and wealth of seasonal activities and events."
Beyond the big events: Greenville offers arts, small festivals and more this fall season
The 10Best list said about Greenville:
"During autumn, visitors can explore Greenville's thriving food and drink scene and wealth of outdoor attractions with the added bonus of gorgeous fall foliage. Guests are welcome to discover a new favorite brewery in the heart of the city, while the downtown Falls Park on the Reedy is perfect for a leisurely mid-afternoon stroll in one of the city's most charming green spaces."
Only Gatlinburg, Tennessee; Allegheny County, Maryland; Mackinac Island, Michigan; Branson Missouri and Stowe, Vermont ranked ahead of Greenville.
