Greenville's Scoundrel in Esquire Magazine as Best New Restaurant in South Carolina

Greenville's French restaurant Scoundrel has been selected as one of the "Best New Restaurants in America" list by "Esquire Magazine."

The magazine describes Scoundrel as "French fare with flair" in its Winter 2023 edition, available on Dec. 5.

Last year, "Esquire" selected the 40 best new restaurants in America but has switched it to a selection from each state. Scoundrel was chosen to represent South Carolina and recently celebrated its one-year anniversary in October.

"Esquire" describes Scoundrel as a "handsome, tall brick-walled space," run by Executive Chef Joe Cash, who has experience from now-defunct Noma in Copenhagen and Torrisi and Per Se restaurants in New York City.

"It's a thrill to be on a list of so many heavy hitters and friends as well," Cash said. "Getting that national nod is something special. The fact that my team and I work really hard every day to strive for something different and special. I think that is now being realized."
