Greenwich man injured when hit by a vehicle

May 26—GREENWICH TWP. — A Greenwich man is in serious condition following an accident just after 3 p.m. Wednesday.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol's Norwalk Post is investigating a one-vehicle versus pedestrian serious injury crash on Ohio 13 south of U.S. 224, in Greenwich Township.

Christopher Williams, 33, from Columbus, was driving a 2014 Ford Transit, south on Ohio 13. Leonard Barnett, 58, of Greenwich, was walking westbound crossing Ohio 13. Barnett was struck by the vehicle and landed on the roadway.

Barnett suffered serious injuries and was transported from the scene by Metro Life Flight to Cleveland Metro Hospital. Williams did not sustain any injuries.

The crash remains under investigation and alcohol and/or drug usage is not suspected at this time.

Assisting agencies include Huron County Sheriff's Office, Greenwich Fire Department, North Central EMS and Metro Life Flight.
