GREENWOOD -- School Safety plans in the public schools will be the topics of discussions for patrons in forums at the Greenwood High School Student Union.

Patrons are invited to hear Greenwood Schools Director of Security Jim Caudle.

Caudle said Greenwood will have four resource officers working at the junior and high school. There will be others at the elementary schools.

Gov. Asa Hutchinson called a special legislative session to ask for $50 million to fund school safety including armed resource officers at all Arkansas schools.

Greenwood police trained in the district. Sebastian County Sheriff's deputies and other law officers have also trained with tactical teams at the school, Caudle said.

"If you do it right it's intended to get in quick," Caudle said about the response training. Caudle is retired as an agent with the FBI who worked in Washington D.C. before moving to Fort Smith.

Fort Smith police and Fort Smith school police trained for active shooters Aug. 6 and Aug. 7 at Woods Elementary in Fort Smith.
