Greg Cote Show podcast: Jimmy Buffett, Chris from Salt Lake, funeral potatoes and Jell-O with onions

The latest Greg Cote Show podcast, out now, is a lovely varietal blend with a good nose, and easy on the ears.

Greg reports a major crime: That Jimmy Buffett not only is not in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame -- he has never even been nominated. That despite enduring commercial success, underappreciated songwriting and a Parrot Heads fan base immense in its loyalty. All aboard our Lovely Cruise as Greg makes the case for Buffett in the Hall.

Chris, our special NBA All-Star Weekend correspondent, checks in from Salt Lake City and introduces us to “funeral potatoes.” (Inadvertently, elsewhere in the episode, Greg undercuts his son even being at the all-star event by decrying all of it, from the game itself to the 3-point and dunk contests.)

This is our seventh episode of 2023 and 153rd overall, and we welcome you back as always.

Also in the new show:

Greg complains about golf carts running rampant through his neighborhood and founds Chopsticks Anonymous.

R.I.P. and a politically incorrect va va va voom to Raquel Welch and the gradual demise of the bombshell era of overtly voluptuous stars.

New editions of Three Facts, Jack! (pyramids, hot dogs, voltage) and Dad jokes.

Listeners nominate names for Greg’s new racehorse ... and they’re pretty damned good!

And why is Yeti eating Jell-O with onions in it?

Hear all of this and more in the newest GCS. Aside from the occasional bonus emergency episode, a new show drops every Monday morning at 7 on Apple Podcasts, Spotify -- wherever else you pod, including of course at miamiherald.com. Find our entire show catalog with all 153 episodes HERE. (The show also simulcasts on Sirius XM radio Mondays from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m.).

Our podcast debuted in March 2020, just before the pandemic hit. (Coincidence; don’t blame us). We thank you all, our pod family, for your great and growing support. Please continue to listen, rate, review, follow, then unfollow and follow again and so on. It isn’t cheating, and it helps us a bunch. Tell your friends, too!

We now have a teaser video out each week on the Miami Herald YouTube channel to preview the latest episode. Check it out.
