Greg Cote Show podcast: Le Batard Show discussion turns awkward, new song debuts, Chris’ lame excuse

The newest episode of The Greg Cote Show podcast is out now, and since this is launch week for the Lionel Messi era in Miami, we celebrate by hardly mentioning his name at all.

Instead three elements of the new show jostle for the top of the marquee:

Greg discusses what a wonderful time he had on the Le Batard Show last week Pablo Tore and David Samson were steering, but does that turn into a knock on Dan himself? Chris gets combative and the whole thing turns, well, awkward.

Listen to the exclusive world premiere of “Mornin’ Man,” a brand new full-length original song by Yeti, featuring Greg. (“An’ ya know it, baby an’ ya know it...”).

Greg did not like how some of this episode went, and privately accused Chris of seeming distracted during the recording. Hear Greg confront his son at the end of this episode, and hear Chris acknowledge he was distracted and own up to the reason why. It’s absolutely outrageous!

This is our 30th episode of 2023 and 176th overall (including an occasional emergency bonus episode) and we welcome you back as always.

Also on the new show’s bulging menu:

We congratulate friend of the show Mina Kimes of ESPN on her newly announced pregnancy, and somehow that devolves into lobbying for what the baby boy should be named.

Burger Kings in Thailand have introduced a new sandwich. No meat, just 20 slices of cheese. Glorious or guy-bomb? We discuss.

New editions of Dad Jokes and Three Facts, Jack! (With a victory lap on the poll results for both.)

Greg reveals that as a young teen he published The Cote News.

Chris’ deep-seated but readily conveyed resentment that the Le Batard Show sent Jeremy Tache to Lake Tahoe instead of him.

Also: Aural vs. oral; Narcissistic funerals; Greg’s disco call and cred as a hype man; and Yeti admits he can ever tell when anyone else is drunk or high. And Messi! But barely.

Hear all of this and more in the newest GCS. Aside from the occasional bonus episode, a new show drops every Monday morning at 7 ET on Apple Podcasts, Spotify -- wherever you pod, including of course at miamiherald.com. Find our entire show catalog with all 176 episodes HERE. (The show also simulcasts on Sirius XM radio Mondays from 5 to 6 p.m.).
