Gregg County ready for early voting ahead of March primaries

LONGVIEW, Texas (KETK) – The Gregg County courthouse is all set for East Texans who will cast their ballots early starting on Tuesday through March 1, for the March primaries.

LIST: Where to early vote in East Texas for the March primary

“Well, if you don’t get out and vote then you have nothing to complain about,” Gregg County Elections Administrator Jennifer Briggs said.

Over the next two weeks, party members will decide which of their presidential nominees will be on November’s ballot.

“We also have some state and county offices, so for the county you’re going to be voting for things like the tax assessor and the sheriff will be on this ballot,” Briggs said.

Briggs said because it is a bigger election, extra voting locations have been opened.

“So, instead of our normal five early voting locations, we’ve opened nine,” Briggs said.

The nine voting locations in Gregg County are:

  • Gregg County Courthouse (Main Location) – 101 E Methvin Street in Longview

  • Judson Community Center – 1129 FM 1844 in Longview

  • Longview Community Center – 500 E Whaley Street in Longview

  • Greggton Community Center – 3211 W Marshall Avenue in Longview

  • Pine Tree Community Center – 1701 Pine Tree Road in Longview

  • Meadowbrook Country Club – 1306 Houston Street #3340 in Kilgore

  • White Oak Community Center – 200 S White Oak Road in White Oak

  • Broughton Recreation Center – 801 S Martin Luther King Jr Boulevard in Longview

  • Elderville Community Center – 322 TX-149 in Longview

On top of selecting Republican and Democrat candidates and county sheriffs, Republican voters specifically will also see propositions on this election’s ballot.

What to know as early voting for March primaries starts on Tuesday

“You’re not voting on law. I’ve had some Democrats call and ask ‘well why can’t they vote on that?’ It’s more of a poll for the Republicans to poll their constituents to see how they feel about these issues,” Briggs said. “A lot of it is about border protection, there’s 13 different ones, and a lot of them are to do with that.”

Briggs encourages everyone to use their right and go out and vote.

“It’s very important to come out to vote, you’re voting for not only your county, your state and the nation,” Briggs said.
