‘Grey’s Anatomy’ star Sara Ramirez comes out as nonbinary

Television and stage star Sara Ramirez announced they are gender nonbinary.

Ramirez, a Tony Award-winning performer and a long-time LGBTQ activist, shared their new profile picture on Instagram Thursday. The caption reads, “In me is the capacity to be Girlish boy / Boyish girl / Boyish boy / Girlish girl / All / Neither / #nonbinary”

Ramirez, best known for playing Dr. Callie Torres on ten seasons of ABC’s “Grey’s Anatomy,” also updated their Twitter and Instagram bios, stating their preferred pronouns: “she/they.”
