Grey’s Anatomy star Richard Flood's new mini series is coming to BBC Four and BBC iPlayer.

Mystery thriller The Gone, which is set in New Zealand, also stars Game of Thrones' Michelle Fairley, Acushla-Tara Kupe, Manu Bennett, and Carolyn Bracken.

The six-part series follows Irish detective Theo Richter as he investigates the disappearance of a young Irish couple.

Richter teams up with local detective Diana Huia (Kupe) but their job is hampered by the rural community's growing concern that the disappearances may be linked to a series of historical murders.

Speaking about The Gone, Sue Deeks, head of BBC programme acquisition, said: "Set amongst the beautiful New Zealand landscape, The Gone is an atmospheric and suspenseful mystery thriller, guaranteed to keep viewers guessing until the very end."

Flood played Dr Cormac Hayes on Grey's for three seasons until he left the medical drama in 2022 and, although it wasn't his decision to leave, the actor said he was "very happy" with the timing.

"They came up with the exit," he said. "I didn't know until closer to when we were shooting how it would actually happen, but there'd been a few conversations during the summer as far as how the season would unfold.

"And then during the season, there were more conversations about what might be good [for the show] and what might be good for me.

"Having three years on the show felt right for me, and I think that the arc of the character with all the developments in the story was probably coming to its natural end, which was great. I was very happy that everybody felt the same, and they just got to it."

Grey's Anatomy season 20 and Station 19's final season will premiere on March 14, 2024 on ABC in the US. Both shows stream on Disney+ in the UK.
