Grills in Rockford and Loves Park are getting fired up for annual 'Brat Days'
Buying brats because you like to eat them is one thing. Buying them for a good cause is even better.
The Alpine Kiwanis Club's 52nd annual "Brat Days," a two-day event, starts Friday.
Brat Days is the Kiwanis Club's signature fundraising event and typically generates $50,000 to $80,000 for local non-profits serving children, the elderly, the disabled and provides youth scholarships for post-secondary education.
Here's what you need to know:
When is Brat Days?
11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Friday and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday.
Is Brat Days held at more than one location
Yes. There are two locations: U-Haul, corner of East State Street and Mulford Road, and Blain's Farm & Fleet, 7300 E. Riverside Blvd. Each site will have drive-thru, walk up and on-site seating as well as live entertainment.

I don't want to wait until lunch time. Can I get a brat for breakfast?
Yes. “Take Your Brat to Work” day is 6 to 10 a.m. and only at the Blain’s Farm & Fleet site.
What else is served beside brats?
All-Beef Johnsonville hotdogs, meatless barbeque, vegan/vegetarian brats and Mrs. Fisher's Chips plus Pepsi products or water.
How much are tickets?
Tickets are $8.00 and can be purchased on-site.
Where do the funds go?
All Alpine Kiwanis Brat Days proceeds are given directly to local non-profits and area youth for scholarships. For the past 51 years, The Alpine Kiwanis Club has given more than $2 million to support the local community.
