Grizzlies' Jaren Jackson Jr injury status upgraded; Ja Morant, Desmond Bane doubtful

The Memphis Grizzlies updated the injury statuses of its stars ahead of Sunday's matchup against the Washington Wizards.

The team's two leading scorers, Ja Morant (left ankle soreness) and Desmond Bane (right toe soreness), are both listed as doubtful against the Wizards. Morant and Bane have each missed one game this season, and both were losses against the Utah Jazz.

More positive news came in the latest Jaren Jackson Jr. injury update. Jackson was listed as doubtful for the first time this season after recovering from a procedure on his right foot that forced him out between four and six months. He had previously been declared out before every game.

This update comes after Grizzlies coach Taylor Jenkins said on Wednesday that Jackson had progressed to doing five-on-five workouts. His potential return puts him closer to the four-month period, which Jackson said at media day was closer to his expectation.

The Grizzlies play Tuesday against the New Orleans Pelicans, and they'll return home on Friday versus the Oklahoma City Thunder.
