Grizzlies’ Morant will miss time with sprained ankle

The Grizzlies announced that star Ja Morant suffered an ankle sprain vs the Oklahoma City Thunder.

Morant suffered a Grade 1 ankle sprain in Friday’s win vs the Thunder, late in the fourth quarter.

Morant finished the game with 19 points, 11 assists, 7 rebounds, and 1 block.

In the Grizzlies first 16 games of the season, Morant ranks top-5 in usage rate, behind MVP candidates Luka Doncic and Giannis Antetokounmpo.

Tyus Jones will take up the starting role duties, while Morant is sidelined.

The Grizzlies will re-evaluate Morant’s health on a week-to-week basis.

The next game for Memphis is a trip to Brooklyn, facing the Nets at 6 p.m. Sunday night.
