Grocery Outlet store coming to Palm Desert next week, the sixth in the Coachella Valley
Palm Desert residents will have another grocery option starting next week, as a new Grocery Outlet Bargain Market is set to open off Highway 111 on Thursday, Sept. 21.
The Palm Desert store will be the sixth Grocery Outlet to open in the Coachella Valley in recent years, with other locations in Desert Hot Springs, Palm Springs, Cathedral City, Bermuda Dunes and La Quinta.
Located at 72-675 Highway 111, the new store will have about 30 employees. It’ll be open daily from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m.
The location’s independent operators, Keenam and Jennifer Carrillo, said in a statement they’re “so thrilled to be a part of the Palm Desert community and provide some relief with big savings on quality groceries.” The duo are marking the opening with $500 donations to both The Joslyn Center and FIND Food Bank.
The store's building has been home to a Smart & Final and most recently a Ross discount store.
Grand opening offers prizes
The grand opening and ribbon-cutting ceremony will also include chances for residents to win some cash prizes.
When Grocery Outlet opens its doors at 7 a.m. Thursday, the first 100 customers will receive a “Bliss Buck” gift card in amounts ranging from $5 to $500, and all shoppers that day will get a free reusable bag while supplies last. There will also be a “Wheel of Bargains” that shoppers can spin for a chance to win a prize.
A ribbon cutting will be at 10 a.m. Thursday.
People also have a chance to win $1,000 in store gift certificates through a separate promotion online, open from Sep. 11 to Oct. 19. Those wishing to enter can do so at groceryoutlet.com/win-groceries-palm-desert.
The new location, located near the El Paseo shopping district, joins several other grocery stores within a couple miles, including Aldi, Trader Joe’s, Whole Foods Market, Jensen’s Finest Foods and Albertsons.
