New grocery store will open in Gonzales with Louisiana brands, fresh fruit, Mexican food
ASCENSION PARISH, La. (BRPROUD) – A new grocery store is set to start serving the Gonzales community later this spring.
Ideal Market opened its first store in New Orleans in 2000 and is known for its fresh produce and authentic Hispanic food products. Ideal Market has 11 stores and will open its 12th location in Gonzales in 2024.
Ben Castro, the marketing director for Ideal Market, said they plan to open at the end of March or early April. The store will be on Highway 30 in the same area as Ollie’s Bargain Outlet and Dollar Tree.
Products at Ideal Market include carne asada and other Caribbean and Latin American meats, classic Mexican and Latin American breads — like bolillos — and Louisiana favorites including Blue Runner red beans and Zatarain’s Jambalaya Mix.
Castro said they will host a grand opening event with a mariachi band to celebrate.
