Parm, a Little Italy New York mainstay, will open its first Florida outpost in Palm Beach Gardens sometime this winter. The Italian-American comfort food spot will debut at the Downtown Palm Beach Gardens plaza, where no opening date has been announced.

One standout detail: The hospitality company behind Parm, Major Food Group, is the group behind New York favorite Carbone and its wildly popular South Beach outpost, which opened in January.

The restaurant will take over a new 5,000-square-foot space with a lakeside location at the plaza, which is undergoing an extensive makeover. Parm will be located by the plaza’s transplanted carousel. It will be the restaurant group’s fifth Parm location.

Major Food Group, founded by chefs Mario Carbone and Rich Torrisi and restaurateur Jeff Zalaznick, is no stranger to Palm Beach County. The company opened The Flamingo Grill, a tropical-glam, mid-century American restaurant at The Boca Raton, the luxury resort formerly known as the Boca Raton Resort and Club.

In Miami, the hospitality group also opened the private ZZ’s Club in that city’s Design District in April.

“Major Food Group is known for its top-notch restaurants and as we continue to redevelop the center, Parm will be a perfect addition to our already diverse restaurant lineup,” Alexis Brock, regional marketing manager for the plaza’s parent company, ShopCore Properties, said via news release.

Parm’s original location opened on New York’s Mulberry Street 10 years ago, serving hero sandwiches and inspired Italian-American comfort classics to raves.

In a 2012 mini-ode to Parm’s meatball Parmigiana hero, New York Times dining critic Pete Wells wrote: “Like most things at Parm… it is prepared by cooks wearing white paper hats and is set before you in a red plastic basket. And, like most things at Parm, it is completely faithful to your memories while being much, much better than you remembered.”
