The Terrebonne Fine Arts Guild will celebrate its reopening after Hurricane Ida and the return of its annual Christmas Art Market with a "Grand Reopening" reception Saturday.

It's scheduled for 1-7 p.m. at Downtown Art Gallery 630, 630 Belanger St. in Houma. A ribbon-cutting will take place at 2 p.m. The event will include food, an area to take holiday photos, a lighted art display, door prizes and plenty of art and homemade gifts for sale.

"Our gallery is sort of like home, at least to us. It's comforting and we always have a pot of coffee on," said Margaret Chouest, guild president. "We hope people can come in and slowly take their time and look at what we've created."

Art will vary in price, but the hand-painted ornaments on the guild's indoor Christmas tree are $5 each.

The guild had closed its gallery in September after damage caused by Ida. The building needed new ceilings, floors, attic insulation and other repairs.

The gallery reopened Nov. 19, though it's not back to 100%. Hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesdays and Fridays and 1-5 p.m. Saturdays. From Dec. 20 to 24, it will be open 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily.
