This Group Is Sending Pizzas From Local Shops To Feed Healthcare Workers Battling Coronavirus
The news around the COVID-19 outbreak is constantly changing, but information about food safety and how to keep yourself healthy is crucial right now. As healthcare workers around the globe provide care to those battling the COVID-19 pandemic, people have been doing what they can to show appreciation for them. Now, a pizza delivery app and pizza-centric non-profits are delivering pizzas to healthcare workers around the country from local pizzerias.
The initiative, first reported on by Food & Wine, is called Pizza vs. Pandemic and it is a collaboration between Slice Out Hunger, Pizza to the Polls, and the Slice pizza delivery app. Here's how it works: You can make a tax deductible donation on this website. From there, the money will be used to order food from a local pizzeria via the Slice pizza app to be delivered to a local hospital, clinic, shelter, or care center so its workers can get a hot and delicious meal.

Best of all, the initiative is two-fold. Not only does it benefit healthcare workers by giving them some well-deserved pizza, but it also benefits local businesses that have been hit hard by social distancing regulations surrounding the global coronavirus outbreak. Since March 21, the group has raised almost $100,000 and delivered more than 2,000 pizzas, according to a recent tweet.
