The U.S. Capitol Police arrested seven people who work for CBS’s The Late Show with Stephen Colbert for allegedly illegally entering a U.S. House of Representatives office building on Thursday, according to a news report.

Fox News reported that Capitol Police received a call for a disturbance in the Longworth House Office Building at 8:30 p.m. on Thursday, after the Capitol complex had closed to public visitors.

The staffers allegedly took photos and videos near the offices of House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R., Calif.) and Representative Lauren Boebert (R., Colo.).

Responding officers observed a group of individuals “unescorted and without Congressional ID, in a sixth-floor hallway,” Capitol Police told Fox News in a statement. “The building was closed to visitors, and these individuals were determined to be a part of a group that had been directed by the USCP to leave the building earlier in the day.”

The group had been escorted out of the January 6 committee hearing earlier on Thursday for failure to secure proper press credentials, according to the report.

The staffers were charged with unlawful entry, the outlet reported.

This is an active criminal investigation, and may result in additional criminal charges after consultation with the U.S. Attorney,” Capitol Police told Fox News.
