The free after-work Jax River Jams concert series continues Thursday with a show by indie rockers Grouplove. It's at Riverfront Plaza in downtown Jacksonville, along the St. Johns River in the spot where The Jacksonville Landing used to stand. Previous shows in the series, by Cold War Kids and Shaggy, drew big crowds and this one is happening at the same time as several other downtown events, so you might want to plan ahead to deal with traffic and parking. Gates open at 5 p.m. and Grouplove is scheduled to take the stage at 8:30 p.m.

Here's what you need to know about the show:

Who is Grouplove?

Grouplove is an indie-rock quintet out of Los Angeles. The band's first album, 2011’s “Never Trust a Happy Song,” was certified gold. Four other albums followed and a new one, “I Want It All Right Now,” is due in July. The band is popular on the festival circuit, playing at Coachella, Bonaroo, Lollapalooza and Outside Lands. You might recognize the song “Tongue Tied” from “Glee” or its appearance in Apple and Coca-Cola commercials. Other songs have appeared in “The Fault of Our Stars,” “Frankenweenie,” “Bojack Horseman” and a ton of video games.

What songs will Grouplove play at the Jax River Jams concert?

The band’s setlist at its most recent show (March 18 at the Innings Festival in Tampa) included its biggest hits “Tongue Tied,” “Raspberry,” “Colours” and “Itchin’ on a Photograph.”

After the Jacksonville show, Grouplove takes a few weeks off, then plays at the Shaky Knees festival in Atlanta on May 5. The band then heads out on tour for 45 shows as opening act for Pink, mostly playing football and baseball stadiums. They return to Florida in November for shows in Miami, Sunrise and Orlando.

Who are the opening acts for Grouplove?

Then you probably will get wet. Jax River Jams shows go on, rain or shine, unless conditions become so severe that the show must be canceled. The stage is under cover, but the crowd is not.

Is anything else going Thursday evening in downtown Jacksonville?

The Grouplove concert is definitely not the only thing happening, and traffic could be an issue. Jerry Seinfeld plays a hurricane-delayed show at 7 p.m. at the Moran Theater, right next door to Riverfront Plaza. It's sold out. Around the corner at the Florida Theatre, Jim Gaffigan plays the first of four shows in three nights (curiously, also delayed since September). Thursday's 7 p.m. show is very nearly sold out. Just down the road, the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp have a "Thirsty Thursday" 7:05 p.m. game at 121 Financial Ballpark against the Nashville Sounds ($8-$38).

Where is the Jax River Jams concert?

Concerts are held at Riverfront Plaza, where the Jacksonville Landing once stood.
