All grown up: Eldorado Studio Tour is 30

Sep. 23—To show their work in the Eldorado Studio Tour, artists must live in one of the subdivisions accessed on the west side of U.S. Highway 285, southeast of Santa Fe. Although that's a small geographic footprint, the event is billed as the state's largest studio tour, which speaks to the high number of artists who call the area home. Eighty-one artists and 62 studios are part of this year's 30th anniversary tour. By comparison, 25 artists were involved in the first Eldorado tour, in 1992. The Eldorado Arts and Crafts Association typically offers the tour in May but shifted it to the fall last year and this year amid the pandemic. The wide range of offerings and styles includes fiber art, jewelry, painting, mixed media, ceramics, and photography. The preview gallery — which features works by each artist involved and serves as a starting point for visitors — is open from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 23, and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 24, and Sunday, Sept. 25. The studios are open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. The preview gallery is at the Community Center, 1 Hacienda Loop, free, eldoradoarts.org. — Brian Sandford
