Grown-ish future revealed ahead of season 6 premiering

Kenya Barris's Grown-ish will end with its upcoming sixth season, Freeform has confirmed.
The Black-ish spinoff sitcom will bow out with its new instalment, debuting in two parts premiering this summer and in 2024 (via Deadline).
First released in January 2018, the series co-created by Barris and Insecure's Larry Wilmore follows the Johnson family's children as they fly the nest and go to college, chronicling their adulting journey.

It originally focused on Yara Shahidi's character Zoey, with Marcus Scribner leading the series from season 5 as Zoey's younger brother Junior, who started his first year at Cal U.
Alongside Shahidi and Scribner, the series also stars Trevor Jackson, Diggy Simmons and Daniella Perkins, with How I Met Your Father's Francia Raisa and Chloe Bailey scaling their roles to guest appearances on season 5 and not due to return in the new batch of episodes.
Hitting its 100th episode during its season 6, Grown-ish will welcome several guest stars in the new chapter, including Lil Yachty, Anderson .Paak and The Free Nationals.

Speaking about the cancellation, Barris celebrated the -ish family, which also includes spinoff Mixed-ish, cancelled after two seasons, and plans for a previously announced series called Old-ish which never came to fruition.
"We've spent nearly a decade telling our stories through the -ish series and to say it has been an amazing journey would be an understatement," the producer said in a statement (via The Hollywood Reporter).
"To be able to watch Yara, Marcus and our entire Grown-ish family grow up in front of (and in many ways alongside) us over these past several years has been both a joy and an honor.
"From the stories we've told to the talent we've fostered and, most importantly, the memories made, I could not be more proud of everything we've accomplished and the -ish family I've been a part of."
Grown-ish airs on Freeform in the US, while UK fans can watch it on Disney+.
