Growth In Darien Virus Cases Falls: County
DARIEN, IL — The growth in Darien's coronavirus cases fell in the last week, according to the DuPage County Health Department.
As of Sunday, Darien had 1,284 coronavirus cases, up 55 from a week before, or a 4.5 percent increase. That is down from the previous week's 7.5 percent hike.
The number of local deaths from the coronavirus stayed the same in the last week, totaling 16. That works out to less than a thousandth of Darien's population.
The number of those who have recovered is unavailable.

Darien's rate of increase in coronavirus cases of 4.5 percent was higher than DuPage County's 3.9 percent hike in the last week. Darien makes up 2.3 percent of the county's population, but only 2 percent of the county's coronavirus caseload.
As of Sunday, Darien had 59.4 coronavirus cases per thousand people, better than most of its neighbors. The figure compares to 56.2 in La Grange Park, 60.8 in Western Springs, 62.8 in Hinsdale, 68.2 in DuPage County, 70 in Elmhurst, 71 in Clarendon Hills, 75 in suburban Cook County, 76.9 in Burr Ridge and 83.5 in La Grange (including unincorporated La Grange Highlands).
As of Sunday, Illinois' coronavirus case count increased to 1,024,039, up 4.6 percent from a week earlier. The coronavirus has claimed the lives of 17,494 state residents.
Nationally, 21.9 million people have caught the virus, up 7.4 percent from the week before. A total of 367,652 people have died from the virus in the United States.
