Four Seasons Hotel Jacksonville groundbreaking slated for this year at Shipyards | The construction of a riverfront development anchored by Four Seasons Hotel Jacksonville will break ground later this year under the direction of luxury hotel builder PCL Construction, the Jaguars and team owner Shad Khan's Iguana Investments has said. Jacksonville City Council approved $114 million in taxpayer support for the deal in a unanimous vote last October. Khan and his Iguana Investments must spend at least $301 million in private financing for the five-star development that would contain about 176 hotel rooms, 25 luxury condominiums and a six-story Class A office building, according to terms of the development agreement.

Renderings show a 40-story tower for site of demolished Berkman II | The Berkman Plaza II on the Downtown Northbank came down in a long-awaited demolition earlier this year. Shortly after the rubble settled, PB Riverfront Revitalization of Jacksonville LLC released renderings for the site, showing an initial cost estimate of $170 million for a mixed-use high-rise. Plans call for a 40-story, 550-foot-tall condominium, which would be the second-tallest building in Jacksonville. The design by KBJ Architects Inc. includes about 250 apartments, 219 condos for sale and a 25,000-square-foot retail space.

Since then, the beginning half of the pier has been opened for use, but it closed again in 2019 for additional repairs.
