Grupo Firme to perform two nights

The Mexican regional band Grupo Firme, known for such hits as "Puro Desmadre," will bring its "Hay Que Conectarla! Tour 2023" to El Paso. They will perform at 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday at the El Paso County Coliseum. Tickets, ranging from $119 to $249, plus fees, are available at Ticketmaster.com and the Coliseum Box Office.

Formed by guitarist and composer Omar Rodríguez-López and singer/lyricist Cedric Bixler-Zavala, The Mars Volta is back and accompanied by keyboard player Marcel Rodríguez-López, bassist Eva Gardner and drummer Willy Rodriguez Quiñones. It's a year after "La Realidad De Los Sueños," an 18-LP box set that quickly sold out. The concert will be at 8 p.m. Sunday at the Abraham Chavez Theatre. Special guest will be Teri Gender Bender. Tickets, ranging from $69 to $89, plus fees, are available at Ticketmaster.com.

Jewel Box Series to end with 'Tuesdays with Morrie'

The seventh season of theEl Paso Community Foundation Jewel Box Series will come to a touching conclusion with Mitch Albom’s best-selling "Tuesdays with Morrie." The play, directed by theater icon Hector Serrano will be performed at 2:30 p.m. Sunday in the Plaza Theatre's Philanthropy Theatre.Tickets are $15, available at the Plaza Theatre Box Office (where no service charge is assessed) and Ticketmaster.com (service charges apply).

Museum of History highlights South-Central neighborhoods

The El Paso Museum of History has a new exhibition, "Neighborhoods & Shared Memories: South Central," which will run through April 6, 2024, at 510 N. Santa Fe St. The exhibit is part of an ongoing series that features historic neighborhoods throughout El Paso. Hours: 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesday-Saturday. Information: www.epmuseumofhistory.org.

The farmers market is a fun way to spend time with Mom on Mother's Day, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday at 7930 N. Mesa St. Live music will be playing while people shop.

'Pictograff' mural to open at Branigan Cultural Center in Las Cruces

The Branigan Cultural Center and ArrowSoul Art present the ninth annual “Pictograff: The Art of Indigenous Free Ways” featuring a new mural, music and artist demonstrations from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at 501 N. Main St.

New Mexico artists Saba, Yuku, Kause, BBoy IGNITE, Diego Garcia, and FlipSicc will be installing a semi-permanent mural on the north exterior wall of the Museum of Art. Enjoy music in the courtyard from DJ Aight and participate in style writing workshops, live screen-printing, and artist demonstrations. There will be activities for all ages. Admission is free.
