Since the release of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, James Gunn has been sharing some details you might have missed from his threequel, including a surprise cameo from a DC actor.
The Suicide Squad star Pete Davidson teamed up with Gunn once again this time for the Marvel movie, to play Phlektik, one of the High Evolutionary’s animal experiments on Counter-Earth.
Sharing the news on Twitter, Gunn posted some behind the scenes photos from set and also responded to a fan’s question about his own role, writing: "I voiced the beautiful Lambshank. I don’t want to show her here because she's too gorgeous & I don't want folks to feel bad about themselves in comparison."
Alongside a picture of Davidson, Chris Pratt dressed as Peter Quill and himself, Gunn added: "And my friend Pete not only voiced but actually came to visit us in Atlanta for a day and played Phlektik on set."

It comes after Gunn confirmed a sweet fan theory about Groot’s final line in the movie, which is different to his usual language of "I am Groot" that only the Guardians can understand as different dialogue.
At the end of the film on Knowhere, the humanoid says "I love you guys" and viewers theorised this was not Groot learning to speak English, but the audience finally understanding Groot’s language.
In response to this suggestion, Gunn tweeted: "Spoiler… Yes that’s exactly what it means."

Despite the buzz around the final instalment in the franchise, with many fans calling it the 'best Marvel movie since Endgame', its debut weekend at the box office didn’t live up to Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2.
The final movie in the trilogy took $114 million at the domestic box office, considerably less than the 2017 predecessor that took $146 million.
While the threequel has also come in lower than the smash-hit video game movie, The Super Mario Bros, that took $146 million on its opening weekend and holds the title of the biggest US opening for a movie in 2023 to date.
