Pom Klementieff is perhaps best known for playing Mantis in the Guardians of the Galaxy series, but it turns out it wasn't her first choice of superhero role.

The actress has admitted that while she loves playing the Guardian, she always envisioned being part of another big Marvel franchise.

"My dream was to be in X-Men," she told Variety. "It was my dream. I remember seeing Storm, Halle Berry.

"I was like, 'F**k, I want to do that.' She was like me. She was mixed. I'm Korean, Russian and French. So I wanted to be in X-Men."

However, reflecting on landing a role in the Guardians franchise, Klementieff added: "That was better because it’s funnier."

As for the possibility of a Guardians of the Galaxy and X-Men crossover following the Disney-Fox merger, the actress admitted it would be "fun".

"But you know what I really want with the Fox merger, I want to be on The Simpsons," she added. "It's my favourite ever. I'm a huge fan of Homer Simpson and the whole family. They're crazy."

Meanwhile, Klementieff's co-star Chris Pratt has teased that his character Star-Lord could appear again sooner than Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.

When asked about the possibility recently, he said: "I know the answer to that. I know the answer to that. But I can't tell you!"

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3 is expected to arrive in cinemas in 2022.
