Guardians infielder Owen Miller leaves game in top of the eighth inning
Guardians infielder Owen Miller left Saturday’s game with the Tampa Bay Rays with a right forearm contusion.
A late add to the starting lineup of a game won by the Rays, Miller was hit by a pitch in the top of the sixth and removed from the game in the top of the eighth.

“It was starting to lock up on him a little bit,” Cleveland manager Terry Francona said. “I don’t know that he could have swung, so that’s why we got him out of there.”
Miller left the game after a 1-for-2 showing that included a run and RBI.
The Guardians will err on the side of caution with Miller, who is hitting .247 with four home runs and 40 RBIs this season.
Miller was playing for Josh Naylor, who was a late scratch after his ankle went numb before the game.
“He was on his way to go get loose and all of a sudden it kind of went numb on him and it was hard for him to walk,” Francona said of Naylor. “The hard part is getting him looked at here won’t do him any good. There’s so much stuff going on in there, to be fair, we’ll get him looked at when we get home. I don’t doubt it hurts, but it’s hard to imagine something significant happened on his way to get loose, so that’s hopeful.”
