1. (SOUNDBITE) (English) MANCHESTER CITY MANAGER, PEP GUARDIOLA, SAYING:

"Well, so satisfied and grateful for the confidence for all the club, all the organisation. Yes, be happy to continue to do our best for this club, for this organisation in the next years."

REPORTER, ASKING: "You've said this was an easy decision and you've been manager at City longer than any other football club that you've managed. So, it's clear that you're very happy here. Can you explain to the fans what it is about Manchester City, the club, the organisation that makes you feel so comfortable in your work?"

"Well as a manager I have everything that I need. So, especially I know all the managers depend on results. Of course, me as well and we have to win to continue but I saw many, many times in the bad moments how the people here support me. Of course, (Chief Executive) Ferran (Sorrani) and (Director of Football) Txiki (Begiristain) but especially Khaldoon (Al Mubarak), our chairman, like in this time was the main reason that's why I decide to continue. We have long talks this week and altogether we put the both sides to continue or not and at the end we decide the best for all of us is continue because still we have the feeling that there's still unfinished business and still we have something to do, continue what we have done the last years. So, this club won in the recent past but being altogether we won a lot and we won a lot and we won again. And our target is in this club like in the past is not a club (which has) won on a lot of titles. It's continued to try to maintain in this chapter of the club for as long as much as possible. And that's why we're still, I have the desire to help with all the fantastic players that we have for the next years. You know, especially our fans that they're hopefully proud of the way we play and the way we win.

STORY: Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has signed a new two-year contract that will keep him at the club until the end of the 2022-23 season, the Premier League club said on Thursday (November 19).

Spaniard Guardiola has guided City to two Premier League titles and an FA Cup since his arrival in 2016.

His current five-year stay at City is the longest spell in charge of a single club since he began his managerial career in 2008.

The 49-year-old managed Barcelona from 2008-12 and spent three years in charge of Germany's Bayern Munich before joining City.
