Guernsey County fall general election ballot: Scheurer and Williams running for judgeship

CAMBRIDGE − The Guernsey County Board of Elections has certified the ballot for the Nov. 7 fall general election.

There will be several competitive races, issues and property tax levies for local resident to vote on. Here is a quick look as to what will be on the ballot.

Competitive races

City of Cambridge

● Myra Scheurer and Stephanie Williams are vying for judge of Cambridge Municipal Court. Judge John Nicholson is not seeking re-election.

● Sarah Flaten, Rachel Kanski, Ronald B. MIller and Steven A. Taylor are running for two seats available on the Cambridge City Schools Board of Education.

● Incumbent Republican Jeff A. Leonard is being challenged for the 1st Ward council seat by Democrat Steve Mourer.

Villages

● Donald Blair, Tammy Gress-Wills and Greg Scurlock are all vying for mayor of Pleasant City. Current Mayor Michael Stranathan is not seeking re-election.

● Matt Motes and Bryan Stoney are running for a unexpired term on the Rolling Hills Local Schools Board of Education. The term expires Dec. 31, 2025.

Township trustees

● Jeffrey Bridgeman and Scott E. Buxton are running for Center Township Trustee.

● Dennis J. Gibbs, Ron Gombeda, Tom Kenworthy, Donald Marlatt and Glen Underwood are all running for one trustee seat in Jackson Township.

● Jay McCulloch and Robert A. Oakley are running for Oxford Township Trustee.

● John Bates, Danny Mallett and Michael Warner are running for unexpired trustee term in Richland Township. The term ends Dec. 31, 2025.

● Delbert Abrams, Robert Head and David Warner are running for Valley Township Trustee. Jeffery D. Miser, Karen S. Sherman and Kenneth L. Trott III are running for Valley Township Fiscal Officer.

Property tax levies

All are renewals for five years unless otherwise noted.

City of Cambridge

● 3.0 mills for the City of Cambridge for fire protection.

● 3.9 mills for the City of Cambridge for fire protection.

Villages

● 1.5 mills for the Village of Byesville equipment and maintenance for the fire department.

● 1 mill for the Village of Cumberland for fire protection.

● 4 mills for the Village of Cumberland for fire protection.

● 6 mills for the Village of Old Washington for current expenses.

● 0.8 mills replacement for the Village of Pleasant City for fire protection.

● 1 mill replacement for the Village of Pleasant City for current expenses.

● Two separate 0.6 mills replacement for the Village of Pleasant City for fire protection.

● 4 mills for the Village of Quaker City for current expenses.

● 3.5 mills for the Village of Senecaville for fire protection.

Townships

● 0.25 mills for Liberty Township for cemetery maintenance and 1 mills for fire protection.

● 1.5 mills for Millwood Township for current expenses.

● 1 mill for Monroe Township for fire protection.

● 1 mill for Spencer Township for fire protection.

● 0.4 mills replacement for Valley Township for fire protection.

● 1 mill for Wills Township for fire protection.

School districts

● 1.3 mills additional for East Muskingum Local Schools for emergency requirements.

● 1 mill for East Muskingum Local Schools for emergency requirements.

● 1 mill for Buckeye Joint Vocational School for improvements and current expenses.

Local options
