Guernsey Eagles hang on for a victory against Carroll County; fundraiser game is March 19

CAMBRIDGE − The Guernsey Eagles took on visiting Carroll County Cougars on Tuesday at the Cambridge Middle School.

The game stayed within a close range of two to four points throughout the night, with the Eagles leading the majority of the time.

Top scorers for the evening included Robert Covington for the Eagles with 16 points and Noah Hinkle for the Cougars with a resounding 19 points.

This season the Eagles' roster also includes Jacob Montgomery, David Peoples, Adam Finch, Jason Hall, Bonnie Snyder, Kyle Jones, Alexis Krenisky, D.J. Hall, J. J. Raine, Shawn Lemley, Aaron Kennedy and Allen Hofacker.

Coming out the victors with a score of 27 to 25, the Eagles took the win with less than two minutes on the clock. Next week the Eagles will take on the Muskingum County Tigers at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Cambridge Middle School.

The Eagles will play the final games of their season against the Coshocton County Hopewell Indians on Feb. 6 and at home against the Tuscarawas County Rockets on Feb. 13.

Taking on local sheriff's office and Guernsey County Board of Developmental Disabilities staff, the Eagles will host the annual fundraising game at 7 p.m. March 19 at the middle school. This popular event draws a larger crowd and was able to bring in between $800 and $900 in 2023. Two community celebrities − Mayor Tom Orr and businessman Allen Hunter − will act as the referees. Byesville Mayor Jay Jackson will serve as the timekeeper.
