Guest Opinion: Josh Shapiro is a leftist; Mastriano for governor

I was reading this morning's (Sept. 18) newspaper, and caught a glimpse of a guest opinion from Jim Greenwood, who called Josh Shapiro “an intelligent, honest, able and centrist public servant.” I submit to you, that Mr. Shapiro, is not what Mr. Greenwood claims him to be and that was especially proven during the pandemic.

As attorney general, Josh Shapiro did not challenge the draconian lockdowns that Governor Wolf instituted and refused to investigate the governor, health director Dr. Rachel Levine and all those who were involved in putting COVID infected patients back into nursing homes, where thousands died. He also supports so-called red flag laws, that can be used in an adverse manner against innocent people, and there have been cases in other states where that's happened.

Doug Mastriano on the other hand, is someone with honor and integrity, and will fight to make sure Pennsylvania is a state in which the Constitution is upheld. He will make sure that the Second Amendment is upheld for people in this state, by making this a sanctuary state, and we'll make sure that it's done properly. He also will fight for the rights of business owners to keep their businesses open in the midst of a pandemic, will not force anyone to take vaccines that they're not comfortable with, and will expose, investigate, and have prosecuted, all those who were involved in the nursing home scandal. He also will make certain, that all life, from conception to natural death is protected. Doug Mastriano, truly cares about unborn life, make that all life, and will do whatever he can to make sure that they are protected. Doug Mastriano also favors making sure that our law enforcement are funded the way they should be, and that law enforcement is respected.

The positions that Doug Mastriano takes are far from extreme, and there are many in this state, a great many, who support what Doug is doing. Doug Mastriano is a true Republican, unlike Jim Greenwood, and people would do well to beware of Jim Greenwood's statements. He invokes names like Richard Thornburgh and Tom Ridge, who were conservatives in their own right, but Doug Mastriano is a true conservative, who doesn't bend to public whims. I would encourage all true Republicans as well as independents and anyone with common sense to choose to vote for someone who truly cares about the state, and that is Doug Mastriano. I plan on voting for Doug Mastriano, and if that makes me an extremist and a “threat to our democracy," I'll gladly wear it with a badge of honor.
