Your guide to Easter-themed activities in the Canton area

Easter is just around the corner. That means Easter egg hunts and bunny visits.

Here's a rundown of Easter-related activities happening in the area:

A bunny, eggs and Jesus: How Easter became a holiday full of symbolism

Alliance

  • Alliance's free community Easter egg hunt for children ages 8 and younger will be at 10 a.m. April 1 at Butler Rodman Park, 2295 W. State St. Bring your own basket. Get photos taken with the Easter Bunny and Skippy the Squirrel. For more information, visit https://tinyurl.com/yc2ubewk.

  • Alliance First Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. April 7 downtown will include the chance to meet the Easter Bunny at various locations on Main Street and take a picture with him at Celebration Destination. Participating businesses are between 117 E. Main St. and 501 E. Main St.

Bethlehem Township

The Family Life Committee of Otterbein United Methodist Church, 6025 Shepler Church Ave. SW, will hold its annual Easter egg hunt at 10 a.m. April 8. The activities include a visit with the Easter Bunny, a background to take pictures, a craft, and cookies to ice. The egg hunt will be by age. Each age group will have an area to hunt eggs. The egg hunt is open to the public and includes all from newborn to high school age. For information, call the church office at 330-484-2776 from 8 a.m. to noon Monday through Thursday.

Canal Fulton

The Parks Department will conduct a community Easter egg hunt at noon April 1 at St. Helena Heritage Park.

Canton

  • Cross Pointe Church, 711 25th St. NW, will have an Easter egg hunt at 1 p.m. April 8.

  • The Vietnam Vets Motorcycle Club will hold its annual free, public Easter egg hunt from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. April 8 at Arboretum Park, 3220 38th St. NW. Please come early. Children ages 1 to 10 are welcome to participate. There will be 5,000 plastic eggs filled with candy. For the 1 to 3 age group, the eggs will be filled with jelly beans. Many Easter baskets will be raffled off to each age group, plus for the 1 to 3 age group, there will be lots of stuffed animals to be raffled off. There will be a jelly bean guessing contest for the 6-7, 7-8, 9-10 age groups. Peter Cottontail will also be there to say hi to all the kids. Children should bring a basket to put their eggs in. A professional photographer will take pictures of your children with the Easter Bunny for free. Please dress for the weather.

Green

Breakfast with the Bunny and Easter Egg Hunt will be from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. April 8 at Central Park, 1795 Steese Road. The egg hunt is free. Buy breakfast tickets, $6, at https://tinyurl.com/ycycxmzb.

Jackson Township

  • The Easter Bunny will have a Grand Arrival Party from 10 a.m. to noon March 25 at Belden Village Mall,   4230 Belden Village St. NW. Reserve a spot free at https://tinyurl.com/2p88eewz.

  • Photos with the Easter Bunny will be available March 25 through April 8 at Belden Village Mall,   4230 Belden Village St. NW. Hours are 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Saturday; and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday.   

  • Soothing Bunny will be available for visits from 9 to 10:30 a.m. April 1 at Belden Village Mall, 4230 Belden Village St. NW. To make Soothing Bunny reservations, call the mall office at 330-492-7779. For more information, visit https://beldenvillagemall.com/event/soothing-bunny-morning/.

  • A free Easter egg hunt will be at 11 a.m. April 1 at North Park, 7660 Fulton Road NW. The event is for children from crawling stage through age 10. Children should bring baskets to collect eggs. There will be face painting in the David Ruwadi Pavilion. Photos may be taken with the Easter Bunny and next to the Card My Yard Easter display.

  • An Easter Bunny Brunch will be at Royal Docks Brewing Co. Brewhouse + Cannery, 5646 Wales Ave. NW, from 9:30 a.m. to noon April 2. Buy tickets, $33.85, at https://tinyurl.com/5yym6h8b.

Louisville

  • Free photos with the Easter Bunny will be from 3 to 5 p.m. April 1 at the Louisville Public Library,   700 Lincoln Ave. Register at https://tinyurl.com/2p8ev2c5.

  • St. Thomas Aquinas High School and Middle School will host an Easter egg hunt at 1 p.m. April 2 at the Aquinas Practice Field, 2121 Reno Dr. NE, for children in preschool through second grade. All are welcome. The event, hosted by the Aquinas National Honor Society students and Joe Vagedes, a teacher and former administrator at the school, is free and will take place rain or shine, so come prepared for the weather. Marlboro Township

Breakfast with the Easter Bunny and Egg Hunt at Maize Valley will be from 9 to 10:30 a.m. April 8 at  Maize Valley Winery, 6193 Edison St. NE (state Route 619). Buy tickets ($19.99 for older than 9; $14.99 for ages 2 to 8; children younger than 2, free) at https://tinyurl.com/3r2wc9u5.

Massillon

Grace Church, 933 Main Ave. W, will hold an Easter egg hunt at noon April 1, followed by a free carryout lunch. Everyone is welcome.

St. Timothy’s Episcopal Church, 226 Third St. SE, will have a public Easter egg hunt at 11:30 a.m. April 9. Participants should bring a basket to collect eggs. The Easter Bunny will visit. For more information, visit sttimsmassillon.com or call the church at 330-833-3183.

North Canton

  • North Canton Jaycees’ free Easter egg hunt will be from 10 a.m. to noon April 8 at 364 Seventh St. NE (ball field across from Dogwood Pool). For more information, visit https://www.facebook.com/events/937621244284851

  • Pawsitive Hope Inc.'s adult Easter egg hunt fundraiser will be from 1 to 4 p.m. April 1 at the Fieldcrest Estate, 1348 Easthill St. SE. The event includes food, beer, music and prizes. Buy tickets, $30, at https://tinyurl.com/3mk8kmmm.

  • Trinity Baptist Church, 1211 E. Maple St., will have an Easter egg hunt for children ages 3 to 12 at 1 p.m. April 8. There will be door prizes and a visit from the Easter Bunny.

Plain Township

Full Devotion - FBC Canton, 4110 38th St. NW, will have a free Easter egg hunt from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. April 8 for children 12 and younger. Children should bring their own basket. Tuscarawas Township

Newcomer’s Chapel of Pigeon Run United Methodist Church, 11789 Sarbaugh St. SW, invites area families to the Easter Vacation Bible School on April 1. An Easter egg hunt will begin at 11 a.m. on the church grounds. Following the egg hunt, families will gather in the Fellowship Hall for lunch and then will participate in a walk-through experience with five workstations, each station spelling out the letters to the word “ALIVE” (All Live In Victory Eternally). In case of inclement weather, the egg hunt will be held in the church.

Washington Township

Raptor Hallow Sanctuary at Beech Creek Botanical Gardens, 11929 Beech Creek St. NE, will hold its second annual Eggstravaganza from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. April 1 and 8. Activities will include egg hunts, egg drops, egg trivia, egg races, egg coloring and wildlife encounters. General admission is $8 ($4 for members). Proceeds go to animal food and care.
