Your guide to events in Green Bay area, Oconto County and Door County

It’s October and the time to get your scare on is approaching. Luckily, there are plenty of local opportunities to get seriously scared throughout the month.

Whether it’s clowns, ghosts, zombies or the woods after dark that give you nightmares, you’re sure to scream at these haunted locations. There's also plenty of attractions for the younger kids to enjoy.

Here's our list of haunted adventures available in Brown, Oconto and Door counties.

Terror on the Fox at the National Railroad Museum

Terror on the Fox is a haunted event featuring a ride on an antique passenger train, video screens and computer-controlled sound, lighting and animatronics. In addition to the haunted train, patrons can visit The Bloodrite and Daywalker attractions.

Terror on the Fox will be open Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays all October, with select Thursday dates. The attraction will have daily hours Oct. 25 through 31.

General admission is $24.99 and for $10 more, a fast pass can be purchased that decreases the wait time.

Those planning to attend are advised that Terror on the Fox may be too intense for children 12 and younger.

Green Bay Fear at the Beja Shrine Center in Howard

At Green Bay Fear, you can choose what scares you. Visit the Fearstein Family at Shawano Manor or the Howling Hollow that offers scares and screams. If it's clowns you're into, visit Mr. Jingles Funhouse where carnies and freaks are waiting.

Hours are 7 to 11 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays, Sept. 30 through Oct. 29. Children too young for the full haunted house experience can enjoy a special Kids Day event from 2 to 5 p.m. Oct. 15 and 29.

Green Bay Fear is presented by the Beja Shriners, a fraternity that supports Shriners Hospitals for Children. It will be open from 7 to 11 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays all October.

General admission is $20 and $30 for a fast pass. Tickets may be purchased online.

Zoo Boo at the NEW Zoo

4378 Reforestation Road, Suamico. newzoo.org

Costumes are encouraged at Zoo Boo, and each guest over the age of 1 will receive a bag of candy. Attendees can ride the carousel and enjoy the maze as well as a scavenger hunt.

Zoo Boo will be open 3 to 8 p.m. Oct. 7-8, 14-15 and 21-22.

Admission is $15 per person, with children younger than 3 admitted free (ticket still required). Tickets are available at North Shore Banks or online.

To prepare for the Zoo Boo, a pumpkin-carving and decorating event will be held. Those pumpkins will be used to decorate.

Families are asked to bring their own pumpkins and carving tools between 4 and 8 p.m. Oct. 5 at the Pines Shelter. Free pizza and soda will be available for participants.

Guests must register in advance to secure a carving time. Register at newzoo.org or email volunteer@newzoo.org

The Great Pumpkin Train at the National Railroad Museum

The event includes a train ride to the pumpkin patch, where you can choose a pumpkin to take home, live entertainment, crafts, trick-or-treating throughout the grounds and games.

The museum is open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Oct. 8 and 15 for this event. Admission is $17 per person and may be purchased in advance online.

Door County Trolley offering haunted lighthouses and Murder & Mayhem tours

Door County Trolley offers several tours to experience the more frightening aspects of the peninsula. First is the Ghost Tour of Door County, with passengers hearing stories about the sunken ships, haunted lighthouses and other mysteries.

These ghost tours are offered nightly through Oct. 31 and on Nov. 5. Multiple ghost tours are offered on Saturday nights; visit the website to see the schedule. Cost is $37.95 for adults and $29.95 for children ages 5 to 16. (Children younger than 5 are not allowed on these tours.)

On the Murder & Mayhem Tour, trolley riders will retrace the steps of the peninsula’s most wanted criminals both past and present. Shocking stories, such as the Canal Shack Killing and the Furnace Murder, will be told as the trolley visits six sites of legendary and sometimes gruesome crimes committed in Door County.

The Murder & Mayhem Tour will be offered on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays through Oct. 31, and Nov. 5. (Check the website for exact times.) Cost is $37.95 per adult and $29.95 per child ages 9 to 16. Children younger than 9 are not allowed on this tour.

The Haunted Pub Crawl tours are already sold out.

New in 2022 is "Murder on the Trolley Express?" This tour aboard the Trolley Express Dining Car is an all inclusive experience. Guests are taken on an adventure to find a Liberty Grove man missing since 1964. The mysterious disappearance, never solved, asks what happened to the man who was known as much for his dancing as his drinking and gambling.

Guests will enjoy a selection of wines, sparkling wines and beer included while on board, along with a charcuterie plate.

Tours depart at 5:30 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays through Oct. 29. Tickets are $149.95.

Revenge at the Chase Stone Barn in Chase

The haunted house returns for its sixth season beginning Sept. 30. Hours are 7 to 11 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays through October.

The 118-year-old barn will be transformed into "your worst nightmare," according to its website. The 6,000-square-feet attraction features an indoor holding area with a multi-screen video wall showing "Rave from the Grave," a custom audio and lighting experience.

The attraction is not intended for children. It uses various lighting techniques, fog, loud noises, dark areas, aggressive tactics, profanity, nude props and overall uncomfortable situations.

General admission is $20, while groups of 15 or more can get in for $18. VIP tickets where guests can skip the line are $30.

Kids day is 1 to 4 p.m. Oct. 22.

Customers can try to save humanity at Commando Paintball Sports' annual zombie shoot. Patrons head out to the woods to use paintball guns attached to a specially modified 20-passenger bus and try to shoot zombies before they get on the bus and infect them.

Prices range from $22.95 to $39.95, plus an additional $15 if you want to skip the line. The prices vary based on the number of paintballs you receive, and if the Haunted Mansion and GellyBall is included. Tickets can be purchased online

Hours are 7 to 9:30 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays beginning Oct. 7.

Haunted Holes at The Ruins Adventure Mini Golf in Oconto

The Ruins Adventure Mini Golf & Ice Cream, 150 Howard Lane, Oconto. theruinsgolf.com.

This event serves up 18 holes of spookiness, along with lights and music, on Saturdays and Sundays through Nov. 1.

Spiderwebs, tombstones, ghosts and pumpkins add to the ambiance as players make their way through the course.

On Saturday nights, the overhead lights get turned off, and the holes and balls are lit up as glow golf is offered.

The cost is $7 per person, while those younger than 3 play for free. A second round is $3, or free if you pay cash for the first round.

Haunted hayrides at BerryLand in Abrams

Child-friendly haunted hayrides will be offered 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. every Saturday and Sunday, weather permitting.

A hayride ticket purchase includes a ride through the decorated haunted trail and the ability to pick your own pumpkin in the field.

Other activities include a munchkin maze, game tent, bale fort, ducky derby, witch pitch, corn box, craft corner, obstacle course and climbing wall for kids.

Adult supervision is required.
