Your guide to preordering a Thanksgiving 2021 dinner in Charlotte

We’re looking ahead to the holidays in Charlotte, and the time to preorder Thanksgiving dinner is already upon us.

Charlotte-area restaurants and catering services are offering a variety of turkey packages, along with classic side dishes and desserts, to make your holiday easier as you gather with family or friends. Brisket, pulled pork, seafood and vegetarian or vegan options are available, too.

Whether you’re looking for a smoked turkey or a complete package of side dishes, these food experts can have your Thanksgiving meal ready to pick up. Order early and watch deadlines closely, as some spots expect to sell out ahead of the holiday.

Blue Smokehouse Bar & Grill

Location: 1500 Fort Mill Parkway, Fort Mill, SC 29715

Smoked turkeys are available for preorder in two sizes: small (10-14 pounds) for $65 or large (22-24 pounds) for $115. Made-from-scratch gravy is included.

Regular menu smoked meats and sides are also available for preorder. Protein options include brisket ($27/pound), pulled pork ($13/pound) or pulled chicken ($14/pound.) One pound is estimated to feed 2-3 adults.

Side dish choices include baked mac and cheese, smashed potato salad, squash casserole, deep dish corn casserole and more. Pints (feeds 2) are $6, quarts (feeds 4-5) are $11 and half pans (feeds 12-14) are $30.

Half pan desserts are $34, with options including seasonal cobbler, banana pudding or Mississippi Mud Cake.

The Capital Grille

Location: 201 N. Tryon St., Charlotte, NC 28202

Menu

You can make reservations to dine in person for $43 for adults and $15 for children. The holiday menu includes slow-roasted turkey with brioche stuffing, French green beans with marcona almonds, cranberry-pear chutney and Sam’s Mashed Potatoes. Add on pumpkin cheesecake for $11.

If you’re staying in, the sides-at-home package is $125 and feeds 4. It includes the same side dishes you’d get dining in, plus mashed sweet potatoes and seeded rolls.

Chef Alyssa’s Kitchen

Chef Alyssa’s Kitchen’s Thanksgiving menu is all about sides and desserts. Each a la carte item is served cold with reheating instructions and serves six to eight people (except cranberry sauce and dessert cups). The menu is nut free, with the exception of the mashed sweet potatoes and pecan pie. Gluten free and vegetarian options are included.

Options are: mashed sweet potatoes with goat cheese and maple-pecan crumble ($35); roasted Brussels sprouts with house-made bacon and Chef Alyssa’s Tomato Jam ($35); Green Bean Casserole ($35); Orange-Ginger Glazed Carrots ($35); Smoked Cauliflower & Butternut Squash with herbs and cranberries, shaved Parmesan ($35); Classic Corn Bread Stuffing ($35); Cranberry Sauce (serves 4-6, $9); Great Gravy Roasted Turkey Stock ($15); fresh baked dinner rolls with whipped herb butter and honey butter (8 for $15).

Desserts include pecan pie with bourbon and chocolate ($30); pumpkin pie with vanilla bean whipped cream ($30); and individual Apple Rosemary Dessert Cups with caramelized apples, rosemary cake and honey cream ($3.50 each).

Midwood Smokehouse

Menu

A whole smoked Joyce Farms turkey serving 10-15 people is $80. If you’ve got a smaller crowd to feed, sliced or unsliced turkey is also available for $14/pound, along with boneless ham for $13/pound, beef brisket for $28/pound and other meats. Hickory smoked wings are $55 for 50 or 100 for $100, and come with your choice of buttermilk ranch, blue cheese or barbecue sauce.

Side dish options include cranberry-apple compote, mashed potatoes, classic mac and cheese, Southern style green beans, collard greens, broccoli casserole and more. Prices are $12/quart or $35/half pan (estimated to feed 10-12 people).

Gravy is available by the pint ($3) or quart ($6), and Midwood sauces are available by the pint, too ($5).

For dessert, pick up a half pan or full pan of banana pudding ($35 or $75, respectively), a half pan of peach cobbler ($60) or a Caramel Apple Cake ($20).

Roots Cafe/Roots Catering

Menu

Chef Craig Barbour and the Roots team work with clients to create custom cocktail-style parties with passed appetizers or cozy family gatherings. You can change up your classic meal for lamb lollipops, a charcuterie carving station or a raw bar. Prices vary depending on choices and number of people served.

Sweet Lew’s BBQ

Turkey selections range from a 5-7 pound breast at $80 on up to a 24-pound smoked turkey for $125. Other main course options include a spiral ham ($54), or market price Black Angus prime rib or smoked Scottish salmon filet.

Side dishes come in full pans ($72 or $80, depending on selection), half pan ($42 or $45) or third pan ($22 or $25). include Gulf Oyster Stuffing, corn pudding, green bean casserole, sausage stuffing, sweet potato casserole, mac n’ cheese, collard greens and tater tot casserole. Vegan sides include glazed carrots, roasted potato hash and garlic green beans. Deviled eggs, gravy and cornbread or dinner rolls are available, as well.

Dessert offerings include full, half or third pans of banana pudding or Dirt Pie ($72, $42 or $22). Pie choices are pecan, sweet potato or chocolate pudding for $21 or key lime pie for $24.

Table & Twine

With this package, Table & Twine does the prep work and you cook the meal. Turkeys range in size from 10 pounds to 22 pounds and are brined fresh in a shallot, thyme, sage, garlic and maple syrup mixture, then dried and seasoned. All turkeys are accompanied by roasting aromatics, a heating thermometer, white wine and butter for basting.

The meal packages come with savory brioche stuffing, cranberry chutney, traditional turkey gravy, creamed kale and butternut squash gratin, buttermilk mashed potatoes, bacon bourbon collards and sweet potato casserole. Soft Potato Rolls come with whipped butter, and Chocolate Chip Pecan Pie and Salted Caramel Dutch Apple Pie are included for dessert.

The complete meal for six people is $279.99, and the meal for 10 people is $369.99. Brunch packages are also available for $43.99/person and appetizer packages go for $59.99 for six people or $71.99 for 10.

This Thanksgiving meal by chef Sam Diminich includes four courses for $360. You can also purchase a Biga Sama’s Lasagna to help feed visitors ‚ it feeds 10-12 for $90.

First course: crab cakes with capers, remoulade, roasted peppers (one per person)

Second course: farmers market salad, fall fruits, heirloom carrots, Chioggia beets, brie, toasted pecans, herbs, cider vinaigrette
