Concert Calendar: Guitarist Leo Kottke coming to Ponte Vedra on Jan. 27

Acoustic guitarist Leo Kottke will return to the Ponte Vedra Concert Hall on Jan. 27, 2023. The versatile artist has played in St. Johns County several times over the years.

Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 14 at The St. Augustine Amphitheatre box office and ticketmaster.com. Prices range from $30.50 to $50.50. The box office, open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursdays and Fridays and 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturdays, accepts only credit or debit cards. Avoid ticket fees by purchasing tickets in person. The Ponte Vedra Concert Hall box office is still closed.

He has two other Florida stops scheduled on his tour, the Broward Center for the Performing Arts on Jan. 20 and the Capitol Theatre in Clearwater on Jan. 24.

Kottke released his latest album, “Noon,” in 2020, his first recording in 16 years. He worked with Phish bassist Mike Gordon.

Kottke has received two Grammy nominations, for his song “Busy Signal,” for Best Country Instrumental Performance in 1988, and for album “Paul Bunyan,” for Best Album for Children in 1991.

He was named to the Guitar Player Hall of Fame in 1978 and entered the Minnesota Music Hall of Fame in 2013.

Kottke received an honorary doctorate in music performance in May 2008 from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee Peck School of the Arts. He has long worked with the school’s Guitar Program as an advisor and visitor since 2004. He first performed at UWM in 1985.
