Gulfstream Roundabout: Some lanes will be closed during certain hours this week

The Florida Department of Transportation has several lane closures planned for the Gulfstream Roundabout area this week.

The roundabout opened to motorist traffic on Dec. 22, but there are still elements of the project left to complete. FDOT is having to occasionally close lanes in or around the roundabout to do this work. Alice Ramos, a spokeswoman for the FDOT, said access will be maintained for all routes during the roadwork this week.

Daytime lane closures this week

  • Daytime lane closures are in effect Monday through Thursday of this week between 6 a.m. and 2 p.m.

  • During these hours, the inside lanes on U.S. 41 between Main Street and Gulfstream Avenue will be closed, and the eastbound outside lane exiting the island will be closed.

  • Ramos said these closures are necessary as crews pour concrete for new median curb and new storm drain inspections.

Nighttime lane closures

  • Nighttime lane closures are in effect Sunday through Wednesday this week, beginning at midnight.

  • During these times, the inside lanes on U.S. 41 between Main Street and Gulfstream will be closed, and so will the eastbound outside lane exiting the island.

  • Ramos said crews will be excavating existing pavement and preparing the curb pad for concrete.

Ramos noted that motorists should exercise caution when driving through the project, as crews will be working near active lanes.
