Gunman arrested for fatal Bronx shooting

A suspect has been arrested for the shooting death of a Bronx man last year, police said Tuesday.

Baroney Lewis, 45, was nabbed Tuesday for the Oct. 22 murder of Russell Scott Wells, 62, according to cops.

Lewis fired off a gun at Wells on E. 219th St. near Barnes Ave. in Williamsbridge around 5:10 a.m. that day, police said.

The victim was shot in the head over a drug-related argument, they added.

Medics rushed the mortally wounded man to Jacobi Medical Center, but he could not be saved.

Lewis was arrested Tuesday and charged with murder, manslaughter and criminal possession of a weapon.

The gunman has arrests in the city dating back to 1999, including for criminal possession of a weapon.

His arraignment in Bronx Criminal Court was pending Tuesday evening.
