Gunman kills man outside Brooklyn Chinese restaurant, walking away ‘like it was nothing,’ witness recounts

A cold-blooded gunman greeted and then fatally shot a man standing outside a Brooklyn Chinese restaurant in broad daylight — calmly walking away and driving off with an accomplice Wednesday, police and witnesses said.

The deadly encounter unfolded about 4 p.m. outside the New First Cook restaurant on Stillwell Ave. by Avenue W in in Gravesend.

Rasard Deas, 22, was standing outside with his friends, smoking a cigarette, when a Red Honda pulled up and two men stepped out. Witnesses told police the gunman may have given the victim a high-five before pumping a bullet point-blank into his chest, police sources said.

Deas ran into the restaurant, making his way behind the counter before collapsing.

“I heard a shot and ran out. He was lying on the floor behind the counter, dead. His friends were trying to wake him up, but he was non-responsive,” said one witness, who was doing laundry next door.

The witness said he spoke briefly with the shooter afterward, unaware he was a killer.

“I asked him what happened. He looked at me and said, ‘Nothing.’ He had his hands behind his back and he tucked the gun in his pants,” the witness said. “And he said to his friend, ‘Let’s go.’ They were like slow-motion. They took their time. The guy tucked the gun in his pants. They got in the car and drove off like it was nothing.”

Peter, 41, a cook at the restaurant, said the victim ”was outside smoking.”

“The guys drove up and they walked up to him. He had a gun on his hip and he shot him in the chest. Only one shot and he was finished. It’s crazy, man,” he said.

Medics took Deas to Coney Island Hospital, but he couldn’t be saved, police said.

Cops have made no arrests.

Neighbors recognized the victim as a resident of the nearby Marlboro Houses who was raised by a now-deceased grandmother.

“He’s just a kid. He was 22, raised by his grandma,” said one woman. “He was a respectful kid. He was trying to get out of here.”
