Gunshot victim found inside wrecked vehicle

Nov. 30—Authorities responding to a reported wreck in the Tramway community on Tuesday found a person inside the vehicle suffering from a gunshot wound, according to the Sanford Police Department.

The incident happened about 7:40 p.m. on Center Church Road, according to Assistant Chief Jamie Thomas.

Upon arriving, it appeared that the vehicle had been involved in a single-vehicle wreck, Thomas said. They found the unidentified victim inside the vehicle.

The person was flown by UNC Air Care to a hospital and was listed in critical condition on Wednesday, Thomas said.

Police are continuing an investigation.
