The undeclared war to determine who serves the best fast-food chicken in Tallahassee continues. This week’s entry? Guthrie's Chicken, with the grand opening of its third location in the city.

The chain’s newest location at 2870 Apalachee Parkway is just a two-minute drive from competing chicken restaurant chains: Popeye’s, Slim Chickens, Kentucky Fried Chicken and Zaxby's.

Guthrie's, founded in Haleyville, Alabama, prides itself on being the "first restaurant to serve chicken fingers only," since its opening in 1965. The chain now has five locations in Florida, with three in the capital, one in Panama City Beach and the other in Tampa.

Guthrie’s announced the grand opening on its Facebook page and foodies celebrated the news by tagging their friends and sharing their experiences at the new location.

One Facebook user commented that she “finally got tired of driving across town.” Another person wrote, “Got my fix tonight, food was hot, customer service was great! 10 outta 10.”

Guests can enjoy Guthrie’s offerings of the “Gut Box” with fried chicken fingers, crispy fries, coleslaw, Texas toast and “Guthrie’s Signature Sauce” or their signature chicken sandwich.
