The Cincinnati Reds held a moment of silence before the start of Friday night's series opener against the Tampa Bay Rays for Robert Larkin, the father of National Baseball Hall of Famer, former Reds great and Bally Sports Ohio color analyst Barry Larkin.

Robert Larkin died Friday. Barry paid tribute to his dad on the air.

"He was my guy. Great man," Larkin said during Bally Sports Ohio's broadcast of the Reds' 2-1 win against the Tampa Bay Rays. "Certainly gonna miss dad. Hopefully all of my brothers and sister, mom watching. And I appreciate the Reds for putting him on the big board and honoring him in this fashion. But yeah, he's my guy. We miss him."

Robert and Shirley Larkin raised Barry and his three brothers - Michael, Byron and Stephen - and sister Robin in Silverton. Byron Larkin, a radio analyst for Xavier University basketball, remains XU's all-time leading scorer with 2,696 points. Stephen Larkin played in the minors for several seasons in the Reds' organization and played in one game for Cincinnati in 1998.

All four brothers were star athletes at Moeller High School.

Xavier head coach Sean Miller was among those offering condolences to the Larkin family via social media:
