The No. 8 Grand Valley State women's lacrosse team fell to No. 2 University of Indianapolis 13-9 today in the Lakers' first ever NCAA Regional Championship appearance in Indianapolis, Indiana. The Lakers finish the season with the program's first NCAA Tournament win, with the most wins in a single season (19), and the longest winning streak in a season (17).

The Lakers were able to strike first and score the first two goals of the day, taking the early lead at the end of the first quarter 4-3. UIndy's big second quarter put the Lakers behind 8-5 heading into the second half. The Greyhounds outscored GVSU 2-1 in the third, but the Lakers came out swinging as they scored the first two goals of the fourth. GVSU trailed by five with just over a minute left until the Lakers were able to net one more before the final horn.

Junior Maggie Hammer led the Lakers with three goals, followed by sophomore Sydney Stone who scored two goals. Seniors Sophie Conroy and Olivia Esposito, junior Kate DeYoung, and sophomore Hailey Crittenden each netted one goal a piece. Sophomore Aislynn Alkire and Hammer each won three draw controls for the Lakers and freshman Bella DeRegis caused turnovers.
