Gwen Stefani's face, lips criticized by shamers after ACM Awards: 'Chill on the surgery'

Gwen Stefani is facing criticism from body-shamers who questioned if she's had work done on her face.

The former "No Doubt" singer, 49, took to Instagram Monday to share her look from Sunday's Academy of Country Music Awards, thanking her hairstylist for "giving me Barbie hair for date night."

But, it was not the platinum blond high ponytail that caught fans' eyes.

Some social media users were quick to say that Stefani "does not look like herself," speculating on whether the singer has gotten plastic surgery on her lips and face.

"Gwen you are so awesome the way you are. We all notice the lip injections have gone a little too far," @luluq01 commented on the picture. "Of course you can do what you wish, but those that wish you well, think there is loveliness in a more natural look."

The body-shaming continued. Commenters said everything from "chill on the surgery" to "your doc over did it" to "who ever did your lips needs to no longer be practicing."

"She looks horrible, like a clown. All of this plastic surgeries," user @zoecelesteg added.

Some fans defended the singer, asking others to stop attacking her looks.

"What a bizarre world where people come on Gwen’s IG and complain she hasn’t stayed the same from 30 years ago," user @bill__buckley commented. "Gwen is the same person she always has been. She’s just not the illusion some made her out to be. That’s on them not on Gwen. So complain all you want."

"Gwen you are the envy (of) many women," user @ltv5400 added. "Age doesn't appear to have touched you… Thanks for letting us share a glimpse of your personal life in this crazy negative world."

Stefani has yet to address the criticism. USA TODAY has reached out to her rep for comment.
